After completing his level two accreditation in Recreational Running with Athletics Victoria, Buchanan is keen to pass his knowledge and experience on to other members of the club.
“I thought it was time to give something back to the club. Coaching is great for my career aspirations and I’m hoping I can help our members get the most out of themselves.”
The 23-year-old university student is an elite runner over 5km and 10km.
Athletics highs included victory in a backmarkers mile at the Bendigo International Madison carnival; the Victorian Country Open 5km; and Bendigo Health Fun Run 10km.
He won his age group in the 2011 Sydney City to Surf and the 2012 Gold Coast Marathon Festival 10km.
He has developed a series of running sessions, exercises and stretches that aim to increase fitness, speed and endurance. The intention is to help runners of all abilities.
Buchanan is in his final year of a Physical Education/Outdoor Education degree at La Trobe University in Bendigo. He currently works on a casual basis at Bendigo South East College as a sports co-ordinator within the Athletics Development Program.
