RELATED: Barry remembered for selfless nature
THE second man involved in the Rochester Hotel gas explosion almost two weeks ago has died.
Dave Lobe, 52, had been fighting for his life at The Alfred in Melbourne since a gas explosion that also killed 34-year-old Barry Purtell on June 15.
A spokeswoman from The Alfred said Mr Lobe died on Thursday evening.
Mr Lobe had suffered burns to almost half his body following the incident.
Mr Purtell died in hospital the night of the gas blast.
The men were in the hotel's cellar when a flash fire erupted about 1.30pm.
The community has set up a fund to help the families of the injured men.
The bank account is titled "Give a little to two mates who gave a lot"; BSB: 013770, ACC: 288805878.
