The Bendigo meeting is in the usual twilight timeslot.
More meetings will be run on Sunday afternoon, and Wednesday afternoon at the Bendigo circuit in the lead-up to next Friday night’s Group 2 TAB Bendigo Cup Final.
Friday’s meeting features four semi-finals of the rich VBIS Maiden Series and five heats of the Bendigo Advertiser Super GOBIS series.
Some highly promising sprinters made it through from the 12 maiden heats last week, but none more impressive than the Kel Greenough-trained Senor Grumpy.
After being placed at his first four race starts Senor Grumpy appreciated the box eight draw to show explosive mid race pace that set up an effortless eight length 23.76 win last Saturday.
After drawing box seven in the first semi-final he looks certain to make his way through to next Friday night’s $7500 to-the-winner final.
Looking to the Bendigo Advertiser Super GOBIS run offs and a runner by the name of Grubby looks a standout in the first heat, which is race five on the card.
Ideally drawn near the rail in box two, Grubby scored a fast 30.16 Cranbourne win from box one on May 7 and despite being a risky beginner he seems to produce his best box manners from inside draws.
Should Grubby begin on terms with his opposition this afternoon he looks to have too much class for his rivals.
Only a bad start can stop the Karen Leek trained sprinter from progressing to next weeks grade five final.
Racing on Sunday afternoon includes eight outstanding heats of the Group 2 TAB Bendigo Cup as well as heats of the Radio 3BO FM 93.5 Winter Cup over the 660m.
