POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an indecent assault on a train between Castlemaine and Bendigo on June 20.

A man in his late 40s approached a 17-year-old girl on the platform at the Castlemaine station and spoke with her before boarding the 11.34am train.
The man followed the girl into a carriage and sat next to her.
He continued to speak to the girl, making inappropriate comments before indecently assaulting her.
The girl was frightened and when the train arrived at Bendigo at 12.04pm, they left the train without further incident.
