Healthy Together Victoria is a joint initiative between the state and federal governments and aims to put the community’s health at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
The program encourages healthy eating and being more active.
Bendigo Health is working towards a vision of world-class healthcare and healthy communities with a focus on empowering and enabling staff to live healthier lives.
Executive director of people and culture Andrea Noonan said Bendigo Health was very pleased to be recognised for its work.
“The program we offer aims to raise awareness among our staff about what it means to be healthy and active," she said.
"We are supporting our staff to make changes to their behaviours both at work and at home that will have a positive impact on their personal health and well-being.
“As the largest employer in Bendigo, with 3500 staff and almost 400 volunteers, we have significant influence throughout the Loddon Mallee region.
“As an organisation committed to improving health outcomes, it is important for Bendigo Health to have programs and services available for our staff which enables them to live healthier lives.”
Bendigo Health achieved recognition level 1 of the Healthy Together Victoria program by: undertaking changes to food menus by offering more healthier choice foods options and limiting unhealthy options; encouraging staff participation in events including Bendigo’s Biggest Workout, Walk the Block, Walk2Work and Ride2Work; providing free staff health checks; and actively seeking and promoting health initiatives.
