BENDIGO teenager Lachlan Jack has earned selection in Australia's under-15 team baseball to contest next month's World Cup in Mexico.
Jack will be aiming for strikes when he pitches, and runs when he bats on diamonds in La Paz from July 30 to August 11.
Selection in the first Australian Baseball Federation under-15 team to play at the World Cup followed a gruelling three-day camp at Palm Meadows on the Gold Coast.
A squad of 20 will represent Australia in the Cup campaign.
Jack starred for Victoria at the national under-16 championships last January.
The right-arm pitcher earned the Golden Arm award.
He plays for Scots in Bendigo's competition in winter and for Essendon in summer.
Jack played for Bendigo's senior team at the Victoria Country baseball titles on the Queen's Birthday holiday weekend.
The Bendigo line-up included Lachlan's dad, Kenan.
Lachlan Jack was athlete of the year in the baseball program run at the Bendigo Bank Academy of Sport the past two years.
Jack's not just working on his baseball skills.
There is ongoing fund-raising for the titles in Mexico.
The Bendigo Sportsmen's Association has chipped in with $300 as Jack is a quarterly winner in the Coca-Cola and Bendigo-backed Junior Sports Star of the Year award.
