UPDATE, MONDAY 11.30AM: Bendigo's John Lingard will learn his fate on The Voice live show on WIN Television tonight after a week of public voting.
With Kylie choosing to save Johnny Rollins on last week's live show, votes from the general public will decide the fate of Lingard and fellow Team Kylie members Robbie Balmer and Kat Jade.
The artist with the most public votes will be safe for another week and perform again.
The remaining two artists will perform for chance to be instantly saved by the viewers via the Vodafone Homecoch App.
Lingard will sing a song made famous by his The Voice coach Kylie Minogue in Hand On Your Heart should he need to perform.
EARLIER: Bendigo talent John Lingard's journey on The Voice is hanging in the balance after he failed to secure a safe vote from his mentor Kylie Minogue Monday night.
Lingard, who sang David Gray's Babylon, was one of 16 remaining acts to perform during the live finals.
While Minogue and fellow judge Will.I.Am gave Lingard a standing ovation, the pop princess decided to save 29-year-old percussionist Johnny Rollins.
"I had no idea I would feel like this because you have just all excelled," she said about her team's performances.
"John Lingard, I know that you were worried that you had nothing going on (with your song choice) but you had everything going on.
"You really do. The sound of your voice is just (amazing) - it really, really hits me (in the heart)."
Lingard will now rely on the public to vote him through to the next stage of the competition, with the team member with the lowest votes eliminated.
The Bendigo singer-songwriter's secured a berth in the live shows with his cover of Death Cab for Cutie's I Will Follow You Into The Dark. He beat fellow Team Kylie performers Lionel Cole and Candice Skjonnemand.
Prior to that he survived an elimination battle with Tom Oliver when he sang One Republic's Counting Stars.
Lingard sang Vance Joy's Riptide at his audition to enter the competition and join Team Kylie.
The 26-year-old, who had dreamed of becoming a musician since he was 16, entertained students at Girton Grammar School earlier in the month.
Lingard is a recognisable face in the Bendigo music scene with sets at the Bendigo Blues and Roots and Rockin the Vines music festivals.
He has previously performed well in the Telstra Countrywide Music Competition and in 2012 he made the final of the solo performers category before making the semi-final of the songwriters category in 2013.
Lingard told the Bendigo Advertiser he had received lots of support from musicians in Bendigo.
"Bendigo is a big city and to have such a big support network at home is great," Lingard said.
"I am proud to be from Bendigo."
