ABOUT 1000 people marched in support of asylum seekers on World Refugee Day in Melbourne at the weekend including Bendigo resident Jan Govett.
Ms Govett, a member of Rural Australians for Refugees, said the message was simple - everyone deserves to be treated humanely and with compassionate.
"The main message was that offshore processing is not humane and does not line up with our obligations," she said.
"We need to bring them onshore and process them, and give them the right to work.
"I believe everyone deserves human rights and at the moment we are not providing refugees and their children a future."
