Haydn and I met at university in Ballarat in 2005. It took Haydn one and a half years of much determination and persuasion to convince me to give him a chance. And the ground work paid off!
The Proposal
After six years together, Haydn still managed to surprise me by proposing three days before Christmas in 2011. He had big plans to make the announcement on Christmas day, however as soon as he gained possession of the ring, he couldn’t contain his excitement and proposed that night.
The Wedding Day
The ceremony was on the banks of the Yarra River, where personalised wine barrels with beautiful gladioli and hydrangea arrangements defined the end of the aisle.
A keen motoring enthusiast at heart, there was only one car in mind for me to arrive in; a Ferrari F430 Spider.
Our band played an acoustic rendition of All of Me by John Legend as I walked down the aisle with my dad, an extremely heartfelt moment. It was emotional and touching; it’s the one day where everyone you love is around you to celebrate, and you really don’t want it to end.
The reception was at Fenix Richmond, a picturesque venue on the Yarra where culinary delights were aplenty and guests made champagne cocktails from the Bellini Bar while taking in the magnificent scenery.
As we held a cocktail reception there was plenty of mingling, with family and friends not shy of the dance floor partying on into the night.
The grand exist was the guests lining up for a sparkler send off, a wonderful finale to end an unforgettable day.
The Dress
My dress was a beautiful 1930's inspired style gown by Mariana Hardwick.
A draping heavy silk satin, the dress incorporated a stunning low back with embellishments and featured a red carpet length train. Mum and I both indulged in a pair of Jimmy Choo peep toe pumps, the perfect final touch!
The Cake
We had a three tier chocolate mud cake with white frosting and beautiful phalaenopsis orchids, berries, freesias and willow to match the bridesmaids and my bouquet. For a bit of fun, on the back of the cake we had a figurine of a groom fishing with the bride reaching up to a high heel on the end of the line.
The Photography
Photography was by Phenomena and Videography by Wedding Movies. Both captured some exquisite footage, a priceless keepsake.
The Honeymoon
Haydn and I had the most amazing three week adventure travelling throughout Japan. We then had four days in Thailand to relax, unwind and defrost!
