IT'S been a few years since the Bendigo Bank Pioneers have pursued three victories in a row in the TAC Cup under-18s football competition.
They will do in Saturday afternoon's clash with Gippsland Power at Preston.
The Pioneers play and confidence has lifted markedly in the past two wins against Geelong Falcons and NSW-ACT.
Bendigo coach David Newett said pressure and defensive workrate had been keys to the latest wins.
"Our pressure on the opposition has led to more turnovers and scoring chances," Newett said.
"Contested footy and cleaner ball-use are areas we have improved a lot."
Newett said the defence was teaming well, and had the likes of Bailey Edwards and Matt Pickering often being the springboard to attack.
Despite a 1-8 record, Power has a quality midfield and attack.
"Carr and Holmes are strong midfielders, and Dunkley is back for Gippsland," Newett said.
Eaglehawk's Dylan Hanley will make his TAC Cup debut.
The Bendigo-Gippsland clash starts at 1pm.
