SOME of the city’s most talented gymnasts have had a successful past few months, scoring wins and high placing’s in two of Victoria’s most coveted tumbling events.

Gymnasts competed at the Trampoline/Tumbling Gymnastics Victorian Championships and Tumbling Levels All Stars Competition earlier this month.
Held at the State Hockey and Netball Centre in Melbourne, several tumblers from Bendigo’s Palmers Gym competed at the event.
In the level 4 men’s tumbling, Logan Barker came second.
Gemma Smith was first in the level 4 women’s tumbling, while Michaela Meharry was second, Tahlia Sims was third, Lucy Sheriff was fourth, Delaney Barker was fifth and Matisse Cugura was sixth.
In the level 5 women’s tumbling, Taya Nichols finished first, Kyrewyn Rogers was second, Chloe Swatton was third, Billie-Jo Sellick was fourth and Hannah Mika finished in fifth spot.
“An amazing effort by all competitors, especially the tumblers as this was their very first competition,” said coach Emma Carmody.
Gymnasts also competed at the FISAF United Sport Aerobics Victorian Championships at the Arena in Geelong, in May.
Alex Liacos was first in the senior elementary individual section.
Emma Jenkyn and Jemima Brown also won in the senior elementary pairs category.
Amelia Cartledge was also fourth in the elementary upper primary grades individual section.
In other results Clare Bracey was 12th, Kaitlyn Rosendale was 10th and Hayley Dunne was 15th.
Carmody said it was a great effort by all of the tumblers.
She said all of the Bendigo competitors who competed at the competition were ranked in the top 15 in Victoria.
