BENDIGO Senior Secondary College's boys' netball team scored an eight-goal victory in Tuesday's battle with Castlemaine for the Calder Cup.

The BSSC Lions withstood a spirited challenge on the Queen Elizabeth Oval court to win 36-28.

After an evenly-fought opening quarter ended on seven-all, Castlemaine scored three unanswered goals early in the second term.

The BSSC Lions, led by Jayden Cowling at goal attack and Andrew Bruce in the centre seized control.

BSSC led by eight goals going into the final term, but Castlemaine quickly whittled the lead by scoring four unanswered goals.

Among the many highlghts was the duel between Castlemaine goal defence Ollie Banko and Lions star Jayden Cowling.
