When asked why she was doing the World's Greatest Shave, Charlotte was calm and articulate.
"I've got family who have gone through cancer," she said.
"I thought it would be a nice change.
"Seeing people with no hair is quite sad so shaving my head could even it out.
"I feel good about it.
"Everybody in my family is proud I'm doing this."
Charlotte was inspired to undergo the razor after her great-uncle Phillip was diagnosed with cancer recently.
She will shave her head on June 27 at Eaglehawk North Primary School -which she attends - and is hoping to raise $1000 for the Leukemia Foundation.
Charlotte's friends were puzzled when they learned of her plans.
"They thought I was crazy to do this," Charlotte explains.
"They didn't understand."
But once she explained her reasons for losing her locks, her friends thought she was brave.
To show their support, prep teacher James Addlem will shave his beard and grade 2 teacher Aaron Taylor will shave his beard and head.
The World's Greatest Shave raises about half The Leukemia Foundation's annual operating funds.
Money goes to vital research, to try to find a cure for blood born cancers.
It also helps the foundation provide vital support to people undergoing cancer treatment.
