Last time: Round 10, 2013: Bridgewater 21.12 (138) d Calivil United 4.8 (32).
Since 1995: Calivil United 22; Bridgewater 15; Drawn 1.
CALIVIL UNITED - the tough stretch of matches continue.
The Demons have lost their past three games to top-five sides BL-Serpentine, Marong and Pyramid Hill and now come up against the unbeaten Bridgewater.
Going to be difficult for the Demons to kick a decent score against the best defensive side in expected wet conditions.
BRIDGEWATER - another dominant performance from the mighty Mean Machine, disposing of Marong by 72 points last week.
Defence, in particular, continues to stand out, with the Mean Machine yet to concede more than nine goals in a game.
At $1.33, they are the equal shortest-priced country footy flag favourite with Sportsbet.
MARONG V NEWBRIDGE - 2.15pm Saturday at Marong Links Oval.
Last time: Elimination final, 2013: Marong 13.12 (90) d Newbridge 2.5 (17).
Since 1995: Newbridge 24; Marong 15.
MARONG - need to respond on the back of two losses in a row to Bridgewater and BL-Serpentine.
Now face the second-placed Newbridge in the game originally planned for ex-Collingwood player Alan Didak to pull the boots on in.
Onballer Nathan Devanny has been the Panthers’ best their past two games.
NEWBRIDGE - proved to be the “best of the rest” behind Bridgewater after last week’s 21-point win over Pyramid Hill.
The Maroons’ form is a vast improvement on late last season when they kicked just two goals in their elimination final loss to Marong.
Plenty of unknown about Newbridge pre-season, but will reach halfway 7-1 with a win.
PYRAMID HILL V INGLEWOOD - 2.15pm Saturday at Pyramid Hill.
Last time: Round 14, 2013: Pyramid Hill 19.17 (131) d Inglewood 4.8 (32).
Since 1995: Pyramid Hill 27; Inglewood 11.
PYRAMID HILL - the Bulldogs don’t lose two games in a row too often, but that has been the case the past fortnight.
Since the inter-league break the Bulldogs have dropped consecutive games to Newbridge and Bridgewater.
Lost their top three spot, but barring a major catastrophe against Inglewood, will be back in third position Saturday night.
INGLEWOOD - much more competitive performance from the Blues against Mitiamo last week.
Didn’t beat the Superoos, but led at the first three breaks before running out of legs.
Tough day looms on Saturday against Pyramid Hill, who the Blues have lost their past 13 games against by an average of 91 points.
MITIAMO V YCW - 2.15pm Saturday at Mitiamo.
Last time: Round 12, 2013: Mitiamo 15.14 (104) d YCW 10.11 (71).
Since 1995: Mitiamo 23; YCW 22.
MITIAMO - for the first time this season the Superoos enter a game on the back of a win.
The Superoos defeated Inglewood by 41 points last week to end what had been a 10-game losing streak for the club.
The Superoos are running games out much better now and are +56 points in last quarters their past two matches.
YCW - the Eagles are coming off a bye and will be wary of confronting a Mitiamo side that would have some confidence reinstilled after last week’s win.
The Eagles will be keen to pick up from where they left off against Inglewood a fortnight ago when they belted the Blues by 118 points.
YCW hasn’t won two games in a row since 2011.
