MCDFL - ROUND 7 PREVIEW

AVOCA V CARISBROOK - 2.25pm Saturday at Avoca.

Last time: Round 4, 2013: Carisbrook 21.34 (160) d Avoca 4.3 (27).

Since 2005: Carisbrook 9; Avoca 6.

AVOCA - the Bulldogs are one of three teams in the competition still chasing their first win. Poor conversion not helping the cause, with the Bulldogs having kicked 25.38 their past four games.

CARISBROOK - back on the winner’s list last round with a victory against Maldon. Won their past three against Avoca by big margins of 133, 93 and 83 points.

TIP: Carisbrook (76).

DUNOLLY V NAVARRE - 2.35pm Saturday at Dunolly.

Last time: Round 11, 2013: Navarre 12.15 (87) d Dunolly 6.7 (43).

Since 2011: Navarre 3; Dunolly 0.

DUNOLLY - tough day looms for the Eagles, who haven’t won a game yet and now come up against the undefeated ladder-leaders. Averaging just 52.7 points per game, compared to Navarre’s 132.2.

NAVARRE - already boast a massive percentage of 257.4 and a chance to build on that against the battling Eagles. The Grasshoppers are $2.10 flag favourites.

TIP: Navarre (88).

ROYAL PARK V LEXTON - 2.35pm Saturday at Hedges Oval.

Last time: Round 9, 2013: Lexton 24.14 (158) d Royal Park 3.7 (25).

Since 2011: Lexton 4; Royal Park 0.

ROYAL PARK - coming off their first loss of the season last round to Newstead. Another big challenge awaits now at home to the third-placed Lexton. Position in the top four is at risk if beaten again.

LEXTON - five wins in a row for the Tigers, who have been brutal on Royal Park in the past, having beaten Bushy by 133, 291, 188 and 152 points in their four meetings.

TIP: Lexton (44).

ROVERS V CAMPBELLS CREEK - 2.35pm Saturday at Jubilee Oval.

Last time: Round 14, 2013: Rovers 9.8 (62) d Campbells Creek 7.7 (49).

Since 2004: Rovers 13; Campbells Creek 3.

ROVERS - it would have been an enjoyable week off for Rovers after winning just their second match in their past 22 games against Harcourt last round. Chance for two in a row against Campbells Creek at home.

CAMPBELLS CREEK - been one of the surprise packets, with their four wins having the Creekers just one game outside the top four. Opportunity to improve to 5-2.

TIP: Campbells Creek (17).

TRENTHAM V NEWSTEAD - 2.35pm Saturday at Trentham.

Last time: Round 15, 2013: Newstead 24.14 (158) d Trentham 3.1 (19).

Since 2004: Newstead 16; Trentham 1.

TRENTHAM - still hanging onto their position in the top eight, but only just after dropping their past three games to Natte Bealiba, Talbot and Royal Park. Doesn’t get any easier against unbeaten Newstead.

NEWSTEAD - continue to answer all challenges served up to them to remain unbeaten after six games. Now take on Trentham, who they have lost to just once in the past decade.

TIP: Newstead (66).

HARCOURT V MALDON - 2.35pm Saturday at Harcourt.

Last time: Elimination final, 2013: Maldon 15.11 (101) d Harcourt 10.11 (71).

Since 2004: Harcourt 10; Maldon 9.

HARCOURT - season had started to build some momentum with back-to-back wins over Avoca and Dunolly, but squandered the chance to move into the top eight last round when upset by Rovers.

MALDON - on the bottom and still chasing first win of the season, but not through the lack of effort of Joel Cross and Hayden Kelly, who have been the Bombers’ two best players so far.

TIP: Harcourt (25).

NATTE BEALIBA V TALBOT - 2.25pm Sunday at Natte Yallock.

Last time: Round 4, 2013: Talbot 6.9 (45) d Natte Bealiba 5.6 (36).

Since 2011: Natte Bealiba 2; Talbot 1.

NATTE BEALIBA - coming off a 50-point win over Trentham last round, keeping the Swans within a game of the top four. The Swans are currently rated a $14 premiership chance with Sportsbet.

TALBOT - season promised plenty with 128-point belting of Maldon in round one. But the Hawks have won just one of their past five games. Despite their 2-4 record, their percentage is still above 100.

TIP: Natte Bealiba (36).
