Acting Sergeant Mark Bell said three men were arrested at about 4.30pm after they were found in a car with several weapons, including a knife and an imitation firearm.
The road was cordoned off until police could ensure public safety and arrest the men.
Acting Sergeant Bell said a man was charged with possessing a controlled weapon and driving while suspended and unregistered following the incident.
He was released and will face court at a later date.
A second suspect involved in last night's incident was wanted by police in relation to a number of separate alleged incidents.
The man - accused of robbery, aggravated burglary, and serious assaults - was remanded in custody and will face court today.
"These incidents have occurred separately within the last couple of weeks," Acting Sergeant Bell said.
He said at the time of last night's arrest, the man's identity and alleged criminal history wasn't known to police.
The third suspect was released, pending further inquiries.
