A WOMAN who witnessed a brawl near Hargreaves Mall today has vowed never to go back into the Bendigo CBD.

The woman, who only wanted to be identified as Trish, said it was the first time in eight months she had gone to the CBD.

Trish said two young women swore and yelled at her from another car while she was parking.

"The next thing I knew there was a whole group of teenagers there and the girl in the car started screaming at them," Trish said.

"They were all swearing and yelling at each other and some looked like they had glass bottles to throw."

Trish said she rang 000 but feared for her welfare and didn't wait for police to arrive.

"It was revolting behaviour. People were crossing the street to avoid the anti-social behaviour," she said.

"I won't go back there. It was disgusting, I shouldn't be spoken to like that. I can't stand that language."

Constable Nick Hakes confirmed there had been an assault in Hargreaves Mall today.

"A young female was yelling at a group of 10 people before walking away from near Centrelink," he said.

"The young female has got into a car as a passenger and gone to the post office where she got out and confronted the group, singling out one victim in particular.

"She has assaulted that victim, grabbed her by the hood, pulled her down and kicked her in the face."

Constable Hakes said police had spoken to the young female who was known to police.

He is also calling for any witnesses to the attack to come forward with information.

Anti-social behaviour in the Bendigo CBD has been an ongoing issue for police.

"It is an ongoing issue and has been for year," Constable Hakes said.

"This is a serious incident and members of the public have been affected by this.

"We are interested in obtaining any information in relation to this incident."
