Looking for descendants of Matthew Costello and Catherine Renehan of Winton, Victoria.
Emigration records indicate a Matthew Costello born was in Cloughjordan County Tipperary, about 1833.
At 22 years he is listed as leaving the port of Glasgow to Port Phillip on the boat Tornado, with his wife Catherine Renehan, aged 25 years.
Catherine was born in 1830 at Sharogue, County Offaly Ireland.
They married in County Tipperary, Ireland in 1854.
Possibly, Matthew’s sister Ellen accompanied them. She was aged 20 years.
Matthew and Catherine arrived in the Port of Melbourne on July 15, 1855.
Children from the union included John born 1856, Matthew 1858, James 1859, and Michael 1862, and Mary Theresa b unknown.
Catherine died in Benalla in 1888 and is buried at Winton, Victoria.
Matthew died in Benalla in 1908, listed as a farmer at North Winton, and is buried at Winton, Victoria.
Some associated family names include Flynn, Ginnivan, Brennan, Devereux, Daley, Hemskerk, Hancock, Tavendale, and Pinder.
