PREPARATIONS are in full swing at Bendigo Showgrounds for the Bendigo Home Expo Leisure Roadshow.

Show manager Jeff Leech gave the Bendigo Advertiser a sneak preview of some of the main attractions.

"What we're doing this year is all about outdoor living and home improvement," Mr Leech said.

"We will have the largest range of caravans ever seen in Bendigo.

"We're giving people the opportunity to see all the different brands without going to a showroom, so they can compare all the different kinds."

Grey nomads and others keen for outback adventure can explore the residential splendour offered in some of the larger vans.

Mr Leech said prices for caravans ranged from $4000 to $150,000.

Some caravan salespeople said they would be offering special "show prices" with discounts of up to 15 per cent.

The Australian Travelling Fishing Show is bound to draw crowds as renowned Queensland fisherman Michael Cooke gives audiences a "fish eye view" of catching fish.

He will sit in a four-metre-high boat and lure barramundi out of a large tank.

Mr Leech said visitors might also like the Safe Wheels exhibit. They will be able to sit in a car seat and experiment with various safety features to see what car suits them best.

A group of zoologists is running an Australian native animal exhibit for children.

The Exhibition Centre will showcase solar power, water treatment, baths and spas, kitchens, heaters, boats and gardening.

Bendigo Home Expo Leisure Roadshow is open from noon to 5pm on Friday, 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday.

Entry is $12 for adults, $10 for concession and children under 16 are free.
