Haig achieved his first stage victory in this year's national road series as he ruled Friday's climb at Queensland's Bunya Mountains.
The NRS champion in 2013, Haig and his Avanti team-mates, which included Horsham's Mark O'Brien, starred on day two of the Toowoomba classic.
“It’s super good to be able to get a stage win,” said an elated Haig.
The Young Riders Jersey winner in this year's Tour Down Under and the Jayco Herald-Sun Tour will soon head overseas for the Tour de Korea.
Haig's performances in those tours earned a monthly award in the Bendigo Advertiser Sports Star of the Year for 2013-14.
He was also the recipient of the Cyril Michelsen Trust Fund in the awards, which are proudly supported by Bendigo Bank and Prime 7.
A big year for Haig will include racing with the Under-23 World Tour Academy in Europe.
Haig now leads the FKG Tour of Toowoomba by 13 seconds at three stages to go.
The Tour continues on Saturday. There will be a 23km team time trial in Clifton before a 104km road race finishing at the new Wellcamp Airport.
