A COLLECTION of garments by leading Australian fashion designer Liz Davenport will soak up the limelight on Thursday.

The Zonta Club of Bendigo will present An Evening with Liz Davenport at the Hotel Shamrock from 7pm.

The event will include a presentation called Miracle in a Suitcase, a fashion parade and prizes.

Tickets cost $35 and are available from Bendigo Dry Cleaners.

Entry includes a sparkling wine on arrival and a finger food supper.

All proceeds from the event will be directed to local and international Zonta projects.

Event organiser Dale Little said the Zonta Club of Bendigo had a couple of projects on the go.

"One in particular is we make up toilet bags that we give to places who support women when they've left a violent situation fairly rapidly," she said.

"The toilet bags contain all of the necessary things for them like toothpaste, shampoo and tampons.

"We do a lot of those for community groups like CASA and it's one of the main areas we support."

Ms Little said while Liz Davenoport was not from Bendigo, she was a great supporter of Zonta on a national level.

"She actually provides her stuff free of charge, which is fantastic," she said.
