She got involved through her husband Andrew - who is visually impaired - and said it is one of the best decisions she has ever made.
"It is a lot of fun doing what you do," she said.
"There are a lot of different age groups and you meet a lot of different people."
Mrs Barrett said she helped coordinate recreational activities for clients including Swish, which is a similar game to table tennis.
"It is lots of fun," she said.
"We are taking the team to Mildura soon to play against teams from Melbourne and Mildura."
Mrs Barrett said she got lots of enjoyment out of volunteering with the organisation.
"I get enjoyment out of mixing with other people," she said.
"Everyone is different and we have a lot of fun."
Mrs Barrett said Vision Australia was always on the look out for volunteers.
"It is so much better than sitting around and doing nothing with your time," she said.
"There is a variety of age groups, physical abilities and roles.
"It is worth it."
