BENDIGO will celebrate its first winter craft beer festival in August.
The new event - Bendigo On The Hop - will involve 10 venues around the city, 18 breweries and 36 craft beers.
Bendigo Beer co-founder Trevor Birks said the new event was a testament to how far the city had progressed on the national craft beer scene.
"We certainly could not have attempted this back in 2011 when Bendigo Beer began," he said.
"It's a huge compliment to the city's good beer and food venues that have pioneered craft beer over the last three years.
"We are expecting a large number of craft beer tourists from Melbourne and surrounding regional areas so we're certainly excited to show everyone around Bendigo's craftiest venues."
Mr Birks said the festival would span three days, giving craft beer lovers the chance to sample new brews, speak with brewers and enjoy a weekend of acoustic and electronic music.
He said he believed Bendigo On The Hop was Australia's only winter craft beer festival.
The festival is on from August 15 to August 17.
Tickets can be purchased for $45 from June 1 and includes a souvenir glass, program and a tasting of each craft beer.
