Senior Constable Andrew Heazlewood said the offender broke into houses and stole personal items while people slept.
"There were a string of burglaries in the Napier Street area," Senior Constable Heazlewood said.
"The man, of White Hills, was bailed to appear in Bendigo Magistrates Court on June 12.
"He was charged in relation to four aggravated burglaries and one attempted burglary.
"It's a timely reminder for people to lock their doors."
Detectives arrested the man on Thursday.
Police also arrested and charged 31-year-old Kangaroo Flat man earlier this month following a separate commercial burglary.
Senior Constable Heazlewood said a large quantity of property, a safe and cash were stolen from Metal Mosh retail store in Bendigo.
He said video surveillance helped police apprehend the man and suggested businesses installed cameras.
The man was bailed to appear at Bendigo Magistrates Court on July 10.
