THE future is still uncertain for Bendigo Family & Financial Services.

General manager Jenny Elvey spent Wednesday going over the Federal Budget with a fine-tooth comb.

"What we believe is happening is that we'll have an extension of six months, of the program funding, and then we reapply for tender," she said.

"We haven't had anything officially but that's what we've managed to understand.

"Nothing is very clear but that's what we're sort of gathering from it."

The service provides small loans and financial management training to people struggling because of lost hours at work, sickness and unmanageable debt and had expected to lose federal funding in the budget.
