BENDIGO musician John Lingard will face the audition of a lifetime tonight when he faces four superstar judges on Channel Nine's The Voice tonight.
Lingard will attempt to sway the judges into spinning their chairs to face him and his style of music.
The 26-year-old is a recognisable face in the Bendigo music scene with sets at the Bendigo Blues and Roots and Rockin the Vines music festivals.
Lingard said he first picked up a guitar after his dad took him to see a John Mayer concert in 2004.
"It took a few years but that was the spark. It started the idea of wanting to become a musician," he said.
"I'm in no way looking to be John Mayer but songwriting is my passion.
"I love trying to find good melodies."
Lingard has previously performed well in the Telstra Countrywide Music Competition.
In 2012 he made the final of the solo performers category before making the semi-final of the songwriters category in 2013.
The Voice Australia is currently in its third season with Karise Eden and Harrison Craig winning the first two seasons.
This season sees the departure of original judges Delta Goodrem and Seal with international superstars Kylie Minogue and will.i.am joining Joel Madden and Ricky Martin.
