The Thunder entered the VWFL’s top division expecting a challenging season.
However, they were quick to find out last week just how tough the season is going to be.
Having dished out hiding after hiding in the VWFL’s north west division over the past two years, the Thunder were on the receiving end of a flogging from VU St Albans in their premier division debut.
The Thunder didn’t score in a 167-point loss where Grace Campbell, Hannah Perry, Erin Hopkins, Cassandra Blakeway and Lily Campbell were the best players.
Sunday’s round two opponent, Darebin, was too good for Diamond Creek in round one, winning comfortably by 57 points to start its premiership defence in fine style.
Sunday’s game at Dower Park starts at 2pm.
