SPECIMEN Cottage has officially opened as the front-of-house for Bendigo Historical Society.
City of Greater Bendigo mayor Barry Lyons opened the building.
"They have been searching for somewhere to put the collection," he said.
"The 158-year-old building will be used by the group to display artefacts and carry out research.
"Specimen cottage is presumed to be Bendigo's oldest terrace house. It is fitting that the historical society take up residence here."
Bendigo Historical Society President Jim Evans looks forward to using the building for research.
"Now people can come here and ask questions about Bendigo's history," he said.
