TWO Catholic College Bendigo students have returned from the School Sport Victoria State swimming and diving championships with gold medals hanging around their necks.

Angus Verbeek and Isabella Symons won five gold medals between them, while several other swimmers also won silver and bronze medals.
Verbeek won gold in the boys' 12-15 years 200m individual medley, the 12-20 year-olds 100m backstroke and the 15-year-olds 50m backstroke.
Verbeek swam under 30 seconds in the backstroke final to become the new state record holder.
The 15-year-old swam in a time of 29.95 seconds, the old record stood at 30.08 seconds.
Verbeek also won a silver medal in the 50m freestyle, 15-year-old division.
Symons also gold in the 15-year-old, 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke.
She also won a silver medal in the 100m butterfly, 12-20 year-old category.
Catholic College Bendigo students Olivia Wright and Mitchell Sherlock each won a pair of bronze medals at the championships.
Wright was third in the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly, 12-13 years.
Sherlock also was third in the boys 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly, 12-13 years categories.
Catholic College Bendigo also won medals in several relay events.
Bendigo’s Kate Jordan also won three silver medals and one bronze.
Megan George won a bronze in the 1m diving and Kiel Chamberlain won two bronze medals.
Bendigo South East student Cameron Jordan also won a bronze medal.
