Minister for Police and Emergency Services and Bushfire Response Kim Wells said the investment would include 74 medium tankers and four prototype vehicles.
The prototypes feature a medium pumper, heavy tanker, breathing apparatus truck and a heavy sand tanker.
“The coalition government will provide an investment of $17.2 million, in addition to CFA’s 2014-15 budget allocation for the CFA to purchase firefighting vehicles,” Mr Wells said.
Mr Wells said the government was committed to ensuring Victoria’s emergency services personnel were equipped to respond safely and effectively to emergencies.
“CFA firefighters hold a special place in the hearts and minds of Victorians. They selflessly give their time to keep people and property safe,” he said.
Mr Wells said the government continued to provide additional resources to the CFA and other volunteer emergency services organisations through the Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program, with a further $12.2 million, matching that delivered last year.
