A man has been charged with attempted murder and four others have been arrested in relation to a serious assault that baffled police earlier this year.

Police made the arrests in pre-dawn raids at five properties across Melbourne's east on Wednesday in relation to the vicious assault of a man in Yellingbo, about 60 kilometres east of Melbourne, on February 4.
The victim, a 51-year-old Warburton man, had driven to the area to help a female friend whose car had broken down on Macclesfield Road.
When he arrived about 6pm, the 44-year-old woman went into bushes to go to the toilet.
The woman then heard yelling and a scream, and fled to a nearby road to seek help.
The victim was later found with serious injuries, including a fractured skull, and the woman's car had been stolen.
Police charged a 28-year-old Wantirna man with attempted murder and armed robbery after the raids on Wednesday. He will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon.
Raids of properties in Wantirna, Bayswater, Ferntree Gully, Rowville and The Patch also netted cash, a number of pills and powder that police believe is methamphetamine.
A 31-year-old Menzies Creek man was arrested on Tuesday night in relation to the incident, and has been charged with armed robbery, intentionally causing serious injury and other serious assault charges. He has been bailed and will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on April 29.
A 53-year-old man from The Patch, a 25-year-old Wantirna woman and two 21-year-old Rowville men arrested on Wednesday morning are assisting police with their investigations.
A 37-year-old Warburton woman was interviewed by police earlier in April and is expected to be charged on summons.
