The Swifts travelled to Brisbane to face the Queensland Thunderbirds in round eight action of the ANZ Championships.
Thwaites scored 13 goals from 13 attempts, while fellow attacker Susan Pratley shot 24 from 28 attempts.
The Firebirds were too strong for the Swifts, winning 55-40.
The Swifts are now sitting third on the ladder with six games remaining in the season.
The Swifts will now face the Southern Steel in a special Anzac Day game.
Rebecca Bulley’s team, the Adelaide Thunderbirds, also had a disappointing result at the weekend.
The Thunderbirds were kept to their lowest score in its club history, losing to the Melbourne Vixens 64-26.
Bulley’s team will look to bounce back against New Zealand team the Magic on Sunday.
