The Bendigo couple celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on Easter Sunday.

Mr Riley, 89, and his beloved Mrs Riley, 86, both live at Bupa Aged Care.

Their individual rooms are in different wings of the facility but Mr Riley makes sure he spends quality time with his wife every day.

"I have breakfast and dinner up there but I always come down and have tea with her and I usually wait until she goes to bed and then I go up my end," Mr Riley said.

The couple met when they were teenagers at a dance in Castlemaine.

They tied the knot on April 20, 1946, at the Christ Church of England in Castlemaine.

Mr Riley worked for CRB as a patrolman and Mrs Riley enjoyed her crafts, especially knitting.

They lived in Castlemaine until their retirement when they moved to Bendigo.

"We went together for two years before we were married so we've actually been together for 70 years," Mr Riley said.

"We have three children, nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren."

The Riley's shared a love of travel and enjoyed many caravan adventures around Australia.

"We've been right around Australia," Mr Riley said.

"I have a sign up on my door, a certificate to say I've climbed up the top of Ayers Rock.

"That was back in 1991."

The couple also boasted a love for old-time and ballroom dancing and trained debutantes during their membership with the Eaglehawk Dahlia and Arts Committee.

Mr Riley now enjoys being involved with the Men in Sheds program and loves watering and tending for the garden areas at Bupa Aged Care.

Mr and Mrs Riley listen to music together every day and attend many music concerts at Bupa Aged Care.

The couple planned to celebrate their anniversary by enjoying coffee and cake with family.

"We'll have a few visitors come in to see us, family mainly, so it will be a nice day," Mr Riley said.
