The two-year-old boy sustained minor head injuries and was airlifted to the Royal Children's Hospital as a precaution on Friday.
The incident happened on a property on the Axedale-Quarry Road about 1.20pm.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said a man was driving the family car when he hit the child.
She said the driver of the vehicle would not be charged.
The spokeswoman said police had conducted a breath test and the driver had tested negative to any substance.
"It was an accident," the spokeswoman said.
