Just a few weeks after being called up to the AFL squad, Lougoon will be running around at one of the most famous sporting arenas in the world.

To be doing so is a feat he has worked toward for many seasons.

"It's the first time I will have umpired at the MCG," Lougoon said on Good Friday.

Highlights of his umpiring career include running the boundary in the past two VFL senior grand finals at Etihad Stadium.

Lougoon started this season with the VFL.

He clocked a time of 17.40 minutes in last Monday night's 5km time trial at umpires training.

"The mark is 18.10 or less. Once I had done that time I was able to focus on umpiring this weekend."

Lougoon first umpired with the Bendigo Umpires Association in 2003 and racked up six senior BFL grand finals. The run was 2004-08 and then 2011.

He was with the VFL from 2008-10, returned to the BUA in 2011, and back with the VFL the past two seasons.

There will be plenty of family members watching on as Tim Lougoon officiates in the Demons-Suns clash.

Easter Sunday is a busy time for the Lougoons who have a lengthy and proud tradition with the Bendigo Chinese Association and the gala parade.
