It’s been a resounding success at country level in recent seasons and now the AFL looks certain to introduce Good Friday football in 2015.
It’s bound to draw criticism from some sections of the public, but if country footy is anything to go by the sporting public will vote with their feet.
Good Friday games have become the number one request for country clubs.
A home game on the public holiday, with no AFL on television to compete with, is the best free kick a club could ask for.
They are the best attended games of the home and away season.
The addition of former Carlton and Brisbane star Brendan Fevola to tonight’s Kangaroo Flat and Golden Square game means Beck Legal Oval will be bursting at the seams.

Don’t be surprised if other clubs in the region attempt a similar plan on Good Friday in 2015.
While there’s plenty of people in the community who are against the idea of any sport being played on Good Friday, Good Friday is good for country footy.
They are the best attended games of the home and away season.
