GIVING that they may grow has long been the compelling catch cry of the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal – a calling that fits well with an institution that started in Bendigo and aims to strengthen communities.
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank has formed a partnership with the hospital to help improve the outcomes of sick babies and children.
The bank kicked off the partnership with a $250,000 donation, but has gone one step further and launched a range of products that will directly benefit the hospital.
Each time a customer uses a Royal Children’s Hospital branded product, the bank will contribute money to the RCH.
So today, as the children’s asks for your help to give that they may grow, the bank is asking customers to make a long term commitment to that philosophy.
Among the first to sign up are Member for Bendigo East, Jacinta Allan, and her husband, Yorick Piper.
Jacinta and Yorick know only too well how the children’s hospital changes lives – having spent the first 11 weeks of their daughter’s life in the neonatal ward, known as the butterfly unit.
“We feel such an enormous amount of gratitude for the amazing level of care that Peggy received,’’ Jacinta said.
“Anything we can do to support or give back to the hospital and the staff, we want to do it for the way they cared for our Peggy.’’
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Chairman Robert Johanson said the relationship with the hospital would be long-running and incorporate a range of fundraising initiatives.
“Just as Bendigo Bank mobilises the support of people around Australia to strengthen our communities, we will garner the strong collective support of RCH and its supporters, staff and community to further enhance the great work of the hospital and provide the best possible care to sick children and their families,’’ he said.
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank community engagement executive Robert Musgrove said the partnership was close to the heart of the bank and its more than 6500 staff members.
“You would be hard pressed to find anyone here in Victoria who hasn’t been touched by The Royal Children’s Hospital, and that includes our staff,” he said.
Information regarding the two RCH credit card products and the RCH Bendigo Community Choice Investment Account are available from Bendigo Bank branches.
