The five Skilled Training Victoria Bendigo Cup heats were all won by odds-on favourites.
Outstanding sprinter Black Magic Opal broke the track record in winning heat four.
Trained by Jason Thompson, Black Magic Opal ran a blistering 23.41 for the 425m to break Grigorieva Bale’s record by .01 of a second.
Defending champion Ronan Izmir overcame an early challenge from Quara Bale to win the first heat in 23.85.
Paw Licking started $1.04 favourite in heat two and held off the determined Empire Allen to win in 23.61.
The Group One winner was unplaced in last year’s Bendigo Cup final.
Up-and-coming star Deadly Vane made it 11 wins from just 18 starts when it won heat three in a slick 23.52.
The final heat was won by Bendigo greyhound Matt’s Entity in a time of 23.64. The Scott McKenzie-trained greyhound led all the way from box three to win from Top Secret.
Matt’s Entity has now won four of his five outings on his home track.
The three fastest second placegetters will join the five heat winners in Sunday night’s final which is scheduled to start at 7.30pm.
