The band, which formed in 1973, is one of the most popular and highest-grossing bands of all time.
Some reports suggested the band was retiring because of a member's terminal illness while others speculated the band had a booking at a recording studio on May 1.
Musicman Megastore Bendigo staff member Duane Milton said the rock band was as popular as they had ever been.
"We sell a few song books and other merchandise," he said.
Mr Milton said it would be disappointing if the rock band announced its retirement but he would not be surprised.
