For the past 30 days the Bendigo Advertiser has championed organ donation in honour of 12-year-old Courtney Keast.
Courtney was passionate about the subject and her strong belief has saved four lives.
This campaign was about getting people talking about organ donation - having 'the discussion' with family and loved ones.
Sadly, it appears we have fallen a long, long, long way short of our target of signing up 1532 new organ donors in 30 days - one for every Australian presently on the waiting list for a life-saving transplant.
Thank you to the Keast family for giving us the honour of raising awareness in Courtney's name.
We hope to have a better indication of new donors next week when the Department of Human Services reviews its numbers for the past 30 days, particularly from postcodes where the Bendigo Advertiser is distributed.
Regardless of the number, we hope the stories run and the awareness raised would have made such a passionate organ donation supporter such as Courtney proud.
Thank you to the Keast family for giving us the honour of raising awareness in Courtney's name.
Thank you to everyone who signed up in Courtney's honour.
If you didn't get around to it, there's a form on page 18 today - it's never too late.
