The meeting:
Tyson and I had forever been crossing paths in our lives from a very young age...
We had gone to the same primary school and senior college, knew of each other and also had mutual friends although had never officially met each other. I had even once been jealous of a friend being Tyson's girlfriend in primary school!
We both changed primary schools, but went to same senior, and later in life even moved states but always seem to have ended up in the same place at some point in time. It wasn't until I was living in Queensland and Tyson moved there for work that he decided to find friends in the area and added me on his Facebook. We chatted a lot and exchanged numbers. We were constantly in contact with each other. Tyson was trying to get me to meet up with him but I was being a chicken and I kept putting it off. Eventually I asked him to join me for a lunch date in Brisbane. He accepted the date. We talked for hours like we had known each other our whole lives. Our friendship and love quickly blossomed and ended up in us dating not long after.
The proposal:
Things moved quickly for us as we felt perfect together and knew it was right. Tyson had talked about getting engaged before he was due for deployment to East Timor for nine months but we decided to keep the engagement as something to look forward to when he got back.
Whilst he was in East Timor he plucked up the courage to ring my dad and ask him for his approval. Tyson and my family had kept this a secret from me so I had no idea. During conversations about getting engaged I had even told Tyson that he wouldn't want to do it without my Dad's approval! Little did I know he had already got approval from him.
On the day of the proposal, which was also our anniversary, I had gone to work and had ended up coming home not long after feeling ill.
I had no idea this had put a spanner in the works for Tyson's plans for the proposal. He devised a plan with the housemate and some friends to help him organise it all so that I wouldn't catch on. I was still feeling sick that afternoon but he insisted that we go out for dinner in Brisbane. After dinner Tyson wanted to go for a walk but I was still unwell and just wanted to go home to rest. I had no idea the dinner was just a distraction to get me out of the house to buy our housemate and friends time to set up for the proposal!
On arrival back home I could smell candles and joked to Tyson that someone was having a good time in one of the other units, until I opened the door to our unit and it was set up with candles, music and a rose petal path to our balcony that was also set up with candles, rose petals and a bottle of expensive French Champagne. He told me to walk out to the balcony where he then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
The wedding day:
Our wedding was on October 26, at 3pm. This marked our anniversary date, our engagement date and now our wedding date.
We were married at the Sacred Heart Cathedral by Monsignor Frank Marriot who with all the people involved from the church made it perfect and we couldn't thank them enough.
Our reception was held at Chasers Function Room at Junortoun.
Our transport was in family friend Geoff's GT.
Makeup was done by talented artist Kirby Loveland for myself, all bridesmaids and mother of the bride.
Hair for myself, all bridesmaids and mother of the bride was by amazing hairdresser Chris Murdoch.
All these people and business's helped make our day one to remember.
The dress:
Description of dress, material etc and where you bought it.
The stunning dress was called Suzette by designers Sottero and Midgely which I bought from Casar Elegance Bridal Store in Brisbane City. The style was a sweetheart style embellished with lace in a mermaid silhouette. It had scalloped edging on the sweetheart neckline and bottom of hem. I wore a full-length, lace-edged veil. My bridesmaids wore beautiful champagne coloured full length strapless dresses and the groom and groomsmen wore black and white suits with champagne ties.
The cake:
The cake was chocolate, white chocolate, caramel and red velvet layers made by my talented sister and mother and was decorated by flowers from The Eternal Vase.
The photography:
The photos were taken by photographer Rick Bentley who did a wonderful job and fitted in so well with everyone.
The honeymoon:
We went to Ubud, Bali for our honeymoon. We stayed at the beautiful Viceroy in an amazing luxury villa.
