But CFA operations manager Steve Smith said it is still important the community takes extreme care when burning off.
“If a fire is left unattended in windy conditions it can spread quickly and can burn into bushland or onto neighbours’ properties,” he said.
“Although the official Fire Danger Period is coming to a close, recent grassfires have demonstrated how quickly fires can take hold and grassfires travel faster than you can run.
"They can threaten properties and may even kill.”
