About 60 people turned out to watch the Georgian mansion go under the hammer at noon on Saturday.
With only one bidder the property was passed in with a vendor bid of $2.7 million.
First National Tweed Sutherland Real Estate director Matt Leonard said he was still confident the property would sell.
“The feedback has been very good,” he said.
“There were other interested groups here but the value is unknown.
“It is a difficult one to come at value, there is nothing comparable to this property on the market.
“I am confident the property is going to sell, it could be tomorrow, it could be next week, it could be in the near future but it is going to sell.
“This is all part of the process.
“We are still expecting around the $3 million mark, if it sells for that it would be a record.
“I believe in the property and I believe in the price and I am confident.”
Owner Troy West said he was ready to move on.
“I feel a bit flattened,” he said.
“We are ready to sell and move on and start a new chapter but the page hasn’t turned yet.
“We are in limbo.
“There has been some interest.
“That’s the thing with big dollar houses they try to keep their cards close to their chest.”
Owner Art van Dyk said it was a very special property.
“We didn’t expect it to sell today although we quietly hoped,” he said.
“With the uniqueness and price range we didn’t expect 5000 buyers.
“We fortunate that we don’t have to sell, we want to, we are in no hurry.
“This is a very special property, someone will buy it.
“They will just have to wait a bit longer to move in.”
