A.G. Coombs is part of the Lend Lease team in the successful Exemplar Health consortia and will undertake the role of Mechanical Services Provider in delivering the new hospital’s large and complex air conditioning and mechanical systems.
McCaig Air Conditioning will be a key local specialist provider in the installation process, bringing local expertise and skilled installation personnel to the project.
McCaig Air Conditioning owner Cameron McCaig said it was positive Bendigo tradies and service providers were being included in the project.
Mr McCaig said it was exciting to be involved in such a significant project.
"It's massive," he said.
"It's fantastic to see such a big project being built in a regional area like Bendigo.
"The main building is going to be one thing but then you have a lot of the other projects like the hotel that's just been built and we're just doing the child care centre at the moment.
"It will definitely benefit Bendigo."
A second crane was erected at the new Bendigo Hospital project site last month.
Two more tower cranes will be erected on site over coming months and each will be named by a local child through the Name the Crane competition run by the Victorian Government, Bendigo Health, Exemplar Health and Lend Lease.
Bendigo Health chief executive John Mulder, Bendigo Health chairman Dr Michael Langdon, Member for Northern Victoria Damian Drum, site officials and the media toured the site recently for the first suspended concrete slab pour.
The project site is abuzz with activity with about 120 workers on site.
Between 250 to 300 workers are expected on site by the end of the year with the project set to generate 770 jobs during the construction phase. The Bendigo Hospital Project is being delivered by Exemplar Health which is a consortium made up of Capella Capital, Siemens, Lend Lease and Spotless.
