Gerard Scanlon, who came across the slides on Carpenter Street when walking his dog, is hoping to reunite the owner with the images.
“I assume they are of some value to someone,” he said.
“They were by the side of the road in a plastic bag so they were protected from the weather.
“The owners have probably written them off at this point but they might be important.
"I don’t know how to find the owner but hopefully someone will be happy to get them back.”
The small plastic bag contains six slides, some of which are named and dated.
Two of the images show a Mr and Mrs Kelly in February, 1972, standing arm in arm, there are two images of John, Dan and Terry, one of Dan and Angela and of one of Val and Vera laughing next to a car.
