Bendigo Art Gallery goes green

THE Bendigo Art Gallery is going green.

As part of the recent refurbishment a commercial-scale 15kW solar system has been installed on the roof.

Bendigo Council City Futures director Stan Liacos said it ensured the building’s infrastructure will function well into the future and recognised the Council’s interest in renewable energy sources.

“We are very pleased with the new installation, particularly as it does not intrude on the look of the Art Gallery itself, despite the large area that the panels take on the roof,” he said.

True Value Solar Bendigo franchise managing director Andrew Reid said it was a “thrill” for the local business to be selected for the installation.

“We are very proud of the outcome,” he said.

“Even though most of our installations are for people’s homes, the team is very comfortable with this commercial-size solar system, which will serve the Art Gallery well for years to come.”
