JUST four wins for Bendigo, but the Goers certainly played much better at times than what that record shows.
They sat on the bottom of the ladder at the halfway mark of the season with just one win from their opening eight games.
But Santa must have delivered a dose of confidence to all the Goers players during the mid-season break as Bendigo returned from the break a completely different team in its first three post-Christmas games.
Their first three games after the break were wins over Bendigo United, White Hills and Strathfieldsaye.
The round nine win over the Redbacks was one of the most dramatic of the season when the Goers recovered from 7-84 to chase down 199 against the eventual premiers.
A major blow for the Goers was the season-ending foot injury to Nathan Fitzpatrick suffered against the Australian Cricketers Association Masters in late November.
Veteran Mark Ryan just keeps on keeping on and at the age of 43 is showing no signs of slowing down.
Ryan led the Goers in runs with 392, and was the joint leading wicket-taker with another of Bendigo’s veterans in Brett Andrews (15).
A challenging season, but the Goers look on the right track with plenty of good kids coming through.
