The meeting:
We met whilst studying at Longerenong Agricultural College. Ash was a second year student and I was first year.
We started chatting one night and it went from there. When I finished studying I moved up to Pyramid Hill.
The proposal:
Ash had grown a paddock of sunflowers, and when they were fully out in flower, he took me down to the paddock for a picnic tea. He popped the question after tea. It was a complete surprise as I had no idea Ash had brought a ring and was going to propose!
The wedding day:
We got married in a vineyard at Heywood, where I'm from. The guests sat on a hill looking down over a dam and the vineyard beyond.
The girls arrived at the ceremony on a John Deere tractor, which set the right tone for the day. Even our chaplain’s name was John Deer!
We had a simple ceremony with 115 guests. While we had our photos taken the guests enjoyed finger food and drinks, then we had our reception at a local hall.
The dress:
My dress was princess style. It had a chiffon layer over the skirt, the bodice had material layered and the top had tulle folded finely to give extra effect; a belt with a flower on it was a nice touch.
I also wore a long veil that had embroidery and fine beading around the edge of it.
The dress and veil were from Cinderella’s Bridal Wear in Eaglehawk.
The cake:
Our cake was four tiers, the top was a fruit cake which we've kept for our first anniversary, two tiers of chocolate mud, and one white chocolate mud cake.
My Mum baked the cakes and my aunty decorated the cake. The cake was decorated with sunflowers and had a John Deere tractor cake topper.
