OrPo served it right up to LP Viesti, pushing the reigning champions to five sets before going down 25-23, 14-25, 30-28, 25-21, 4-15 on Wednesday night.
But all is not lost for Hynes, the Maiden Gully athlete playing her first professional season at the club.
The championship final is a best-of-seven series and OrPo is confident of turning the tables.
They play LP Viesti again this Friday and Saturday at home in Orivesi, about 200km north of Helsinki.
