It was a busy week on the court for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
We played four games against very good opposition.
Kyrie Irving and Luol Deng didn't play this week after getting hurt in our previous game against the LA Clippers.
This meant more court time and responsibility for the other guards, including myself.
First up were the two-time defending NBA champs, the Miami Heat, who were missing Dwayne Wade.
We got in a big hole after LeBron James had a 25-point first quarter.
We battled back strongly, but went down 100-96.
You can’t look at them as a superstar
We played the Oklahoma City Thunder, who were without Russell Westbrook.
We were down by about 25 points in the third quarter, but made a furious comeback.
Unfortunately it was too little, too late. We lost 102-95.
The Houston Rockets were next up and they were without Dwight Howard.
It was a similar story as we got down by 29 points in the fourth quarter and got it back to five points, but couldn’t get any closer, going down 118-111.
We travelled to New York for our only game on the road this week against the Knicks.
Last time we played the Knicks in New York they beat us comfortably, so we needed to play a lot better this time.
Carmelo Anthony was on fire in the first half leading the Knicks to a 15-point lead at half-time.
We battled back again, but this time got rewarded with a win, 106-100.
During each of the games this week I got to match up on (at some point in the game), Lebron James, Kevin Durant, James Harden and Carmelo Anthony.
These guys are some of the best scorers in the game.
People have asked me what it is like to play on the same court as these guys and defend them, saying it must be pretty cool to play against them.
You can’t look at them as a superstar, you just have to treat them like another player and follow the defensive rules.
The easiest way to defend these guys is to not let them catch the ball.
Once they catch the ball you can’t get a stop by yourself, it requires team defence.
We have another busy week coming up with four more games.
Have a great a week.
